Reno, Nev. (Oct. 1, 2010) – The Employees of Microsoft Licensing, GP will kick off their annual giving campaign Monday, Oct. 4 where 12 local non-profits will be on-site to network with employees over ice cream, dessert and jazz music. This “kick-off event” is the first of eight events during the month of October to raise funds for various local and national non-profit organizations. This year’s receiving organizations include Food Bank of Northern Nevada, Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation, Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Nevada Humane Society, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Step 2, Relay for Life, March of Dimes, United Blood Services and American Heart Association.

The month’s events include a casino night, a family photo fundraiser, a football pick’em, a blood drive, a silent auction, an office and parking space auction, a bull-riding competition with the company’s senior leadership, and a coin jar. Each event is aligned to a specific non-profit organization who will receive all revenues from the event plus a match of donations from Microsoft Licensing.

“Our annual Giving Campaign becomes bigger and more impactful each year,” said Brian Moore, director of human resources for Microsoft Licensing. “It’s inspiring to see our employees so eager to give back to the community. We’re excited for another successful campaign.”

During the 2009 Giving Campaign, Microsoft Licensing raised more than $75,000 for local and national non-profit organizations. This amount included $40,143.55 donated by Microsoft Licensing full-time employees and contingent staff and $34,922 matched by Microsoft Licensing.

In 2009, The Food Bank of Northern Nevada was aligned with a senior leadership no-hands ice cream eating contest.  The event raised $38,037 for the group. This year, the Food Bank will benefit from the Senior Leadership bull-riding event.

“The Food Bank is so grateful to be a part of the Microsoft Licensing Giving Campaign again,” said Jocelyn Lantrip, spokesperson for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. “The funds generously donated through this campaign have made a significant difference in the lives of the hungry in our region.”

The Microsoft Licensing Giving Campaign is part of a larger Giving Campaign sponsored by Microsoft Corporation each year. In 2009, the Corporate Giving Campaign raised $89.7 million for non-profit organizations across the globe.
