Hugh AitkinHugh Aitken

General Manager, MSLI & AOC


Hugh Aitken is an accomplished senior leader with a broad and strategic background in Operations. He known for his keen ability to develop talent and groom leaders, his proven track record in managing dynamic, multi-client environments, his strong command in leading cross-functional teams, and his vast experience in the operations, global supply chain, quality, customer-facing programs, manufacturing, and customer service functions.

In his role as General Manager for Americas Operations Center and Microsoft Licensing, GP, Hugh leads Microsoft’s Operating Centers for North and Latin America and its Manufacturing facility in Humacao Puerto Rico. He also carries site leadership responsibilities for Microsoft Licensing G.P, in Reno, NV.

Hugh joined Microsoft in July 2011 from Ayr, Scotland with more than 30 years Operations experience in the technology industry. Most recently, he spent more than 20 years in senior leadership roles at Sun Microsystems (acquired by Oracle Corporation in 2010.)

In his most recent role with Sun/Oracle, he was Vice President of Worldwide Internal Manufacturing and Worldwide Reverse Logistics. Concurrently, he served as the Site Vice President for Sun’s facility in Linlithgow, Scotland where he was the cross-functional leader of 700 employees spanning all facets of fulfillment and support processes.

While with Sun, Hugh had a number of notable accomplishments including:

• Opened Sun's first Scotland facility from a Greenfield site to full production in a record 10 months.
• Started up Sun’s European distribution center in a record four months.
• Held a leadership role in groundbreaking project that saved Sun more than $200m/year in inventory costs while reducing lead times from ten days to four.
• Served as Chairman of a powerful technology forum that set the technology agenda for Scotland The board included members from Microsoft, HP, Oracle, Sun and Agilent.
Hugh and his wife Audrey have six children and five grandchildren. In his spare time, Hugh enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family, golfing, reading, and travelling.

Hugh is also passionate about community service and engagement. In 2005, he was honored to receive the “Commander of the British Empire (CBE)” in appreciation of his efforts to raise more than 1.2 million pounds for children’s charities and his service in the electronics industry.

General Manager, Original Equipment Manufacturer Operations

Robert Barrett, General Manager of Microsoft Licensing, GP Original Equipment Manufacturer Operations, has a 23+ year track record of outstanding business value creation and people leadership with global consumer product businesses. Robert joined the Original Equipment Manufacturer Operations team in December 2006 from the Home and Entertainment Divisions where he was responsible for the operational support and management of the Microsoft Retail channel. He was originally recruited to Microsoft to help lead the Xbox launch from the channel management discipline which led to opportunities of progressing leadership and impact in others areas of the development of the Microsoft Retail business. In his current role as General Manager of Microsoft Licensing, GP Original Equipment Manufacturer operations, his team is responsible for the order to cash management and supply chain of the Original Equipment Manufacturer/OED and System Builder businesses in Americas and Asia.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Robert was in a number of senior leadership roles within a variety of consumer and consumer technology companies. Prior to Microsoft, Robert was Vice President of Operations and Channel Finance at Eidos Interactive, where he was also active in several trade and industry groups in the leadership capacity. Prior to that, he held several roles in similar capacity at Namco and The North Face. Robert has built a successful track record of business value and organizational competency creation in supply chain, ecommerce, customer management that has improved contribution margins and top line revenue. Robert has dual Major Degrees in Accounting and Finance from San Francisco State University.

Outside of Microsoft, Robert, enjoys a number of activities: Snowboarding, martial arts and video games. In addition to his work and professional activities, he enjoys spending free time with his wife of fifteen years, Maria and their eight year old son, Alex. He also enjoys various types of sports, and when traveling internationally, really enjoys attending local sports events.

Director, Human Resources

In his Human Resources Director role, Brian provides leadership and management of the Microsoft Licensing, GP Human Resources team, including our employees in Reno, NV, Fargo, North Dakota, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Puerto Rico and the services teams spread throughout the country. In this capacity he is our Human Resources lead accountable to build and unlock leadership development and management capability, deliver solid core Human Resources services and measurement, enhance the employee experience, provide perspective to business decisions, and influence, develop and integrate targeted people strategies based on situational analysis for the Microsoft Licensing, GP operations. He reports to Mary Ellen Smith with a dotted line to Kathy Ramirez, and is a key member of the Microsoft Licensing, GP leadership team, representing the company as a member of the local business and Human Resources communities. Brian is also a core member of Kathy Ramirez’s Sales, Marketing, Services Group Human Resources Finance/Operations organization.
 
Brian was born and raised on the Island of Cyprus, attended high school in Switzerland, graduated from the California State University Fresno with a BS in Management Psychology, and has over 25 years in the Human Resources field in such industries as Aero Space (Allfast Fastening Systems), Lumber (Boise Cascade), Automotive Glass (Libby-Owens-Ford), Health Care (Washoe Health System/Renown Medical) and Manufacturing/Distribution. He moved to Reno in 1988 from Tasmania, Australia, and is married with two children.

Most recently Brian was Vice President of Human Resources for Microflex/Barrier Safe Solutions International in Reno, Nevada and is past President of the Northern Nevada Human Resources Association. When he's not working, Brian enjoys golf and mixed martial arts.

Senior Director, Finance, Americas Operations Centers

As Senior Director of Microsoft Licensing, GP Finance, Jaron Chatterley is accountable for all the Finance functions for Microsoft Licensing, GP, including accounting, tax, financial planning and analysis, revenue assurance and compliance. In addition to the finance team in Reno, Jaron has Finance leadership responsibility for the Latin America Operations Center and Microsoft’s state of the art manufacturing facility in Puerto Rico. Partnering with Mary Ellen Smith, Jaron is focused on developing a best in class operations center with an unmatched reputation across Microsoft and in the Reno area. Jaron recently joined Microsoft in this role.

Prior to joining Microsoft, he was Vice President of Finance for Gateway computers for three years where he lead a variety of finance initiatives including the centralization of enterprise management reporting, performance management, due diligence and analysis for the divestiture of the Professional business and the eventual merger with Acer computers. Prior to his role at Gateway, Jaron lead a finance team for seven years with APL and APL Logistics, a global supply chain and logistics company. Jaron has also managed a startup manufacturing company producing security seals for the electric utility and postage industries.

Jaron holds a bachelors of Science degree in Finance from Brigham Young University and a Masters in Business Administration from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, California. Outside Microsoft, he enjoys outdoor activities, history, and spending time with his wife of eighteen years, Jan, and their five children.

General Manager, World Wide Credit Services

Mark Creighton is General Manager, World Wide Credit Services and is accountable for the management of Microsoft’s global accounts receivable portfolio. Reporting to George Zinn, CVP Treasury, and based out of Microsoft Licensing in Reno, Mark leads teams in Reno, Dublin, Singapore, Seoul, Beijing and Fort Lauderdale. Mark joined Microsoft at its Ireland-based Europe, Middle East, and Africa operations center in October 1998 as the Europe, Middle East, and Africa Senior Credit Analyst. He was promoted to lead the regional Credit and Receivables Management group a year later. During the following four years, Mark oversaw the centralization of credit and collection activities within the region and the development of the Business Process Outsourcing solution.

Mark subsequently moved to Microsoft Licensing, GP in August 2003 and added responsibility for North America and World Wide Credit controls and compliance. Over the next few years Mark led an initiative to consolidate Microsoft’s business process outsourcing and the development of a World Wide BPO solution prior to assuming global responsibility in FY’06.

Prior to joining Microsoft Mark was an analyst at Equitant, an Irish based BPO provider. A native of Co. Limerick in Ireland Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Business from Dublin City University and a Higher Postgraduate Diploma in Economic Science from University College Cork.

Senior Director, Americas Business Operations

As the Senior Director of Americas Operations Center Business Operations, Gene is responsible for the management of the America's Operating Centers shared services infrastructure. This infrastructure includes Supply Chain Operations, Systems and Tools, Business Intelligence, Project Management and Six Sigma.

Gene’s passionate drive for Microsoft’s success began more than 24 years ago when he joined the company as a Data Entry Clerk in the End-User Fulfillment operation. Gene joined Microsoft Licensing, GP in 2003 after spending 18 years in a variety of roles with Microsoft in the Redmond area. His experience includes participating in and managing operations at various scales in End-User Fulfillment, Order Processing, Customer Care, Distribution, Transportation Management and Retail Merchandising. Gene managed the initial outsourcing of Distribution in 1996, participated in taking Microsoft direct to retail in 1998/1999 and managed the implementation of the logistics infrastructure for the first Xbox launch in 2001.

Gene and his wife, Becky, live in Northwest Reno. Both are very outdoors-oriented. In his spare time, Gene enjoys spending as much time as he can with his wife. His hobbies are mountaineering, backpacking, hiking, snow skiing and golf.

Director, Microsoft Online, Inc.

As Director of Microsoft Online, Inc., Roxanne Spring oversees the ‘order to cash’ operations processes behind the Online Services Division search and display billing engines. During Roxanne’s nine and a half years with the company she has demonstrated that her leadership reflects her passion for growing people and the company’s values and commitment to excellence.

Upon joining Microsoft, Roxanne managed the Certificate of Authenticity program for the Original Equipment Manufacturer business division. Just prior to the launch of Xbox in 2001, she was asked to take over the Xbox Third party software program where she was directly responsible for the global Xbox Third Party Operations team, managing the manufacturing and royalty invoicing for all Xbox Third party software. Additionally, Roxanne supported the Entertainment and Devices Software Manufacturing team in Redmond where she managed the Xbox First party retail software manufacturing, as well as managed a subset of the Americas Operation Center Commercial supply chain programs. She was also an active member of the worldwide Software Manufacturing and Fulfillment Council for Entertainment and Devices.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Roxanne worked for International Gaming Technology for seven years and held a variety of roles including Firmware Engineer and Compliance Supervisor. She also owned and operated her own business.

A Nevada native, Roxanne holds both a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from the University of Nevada, Reno. In her free time, Roxanne spends time with her husband of 19 years and three children enjoying the outdoors, snowboarding, camping, boating, wakeboarding, and motorcycle racing. She also enjoys playing softball, basketball and an occasional game of golf.

General Manager, Latin Americas Operations

In his role as General Manager of Latin America Operations, Albert Jorajuria is responsible for the operational leadership of the LatAm Channel Partners and is the key strategist in providing expert business advice to fulfill the business objectives of the LatAm region subsidiaries. Albert oversees long-term operations planning by setting the requirements to meet strategic future needs, leading and influencing senior management team operating in multi-currency, multi-national environment with a focus of maintaining and expanding current market share in the LatAm region.

Albert joined the Microsoft Licensing, GP team from Snap-on Tools, Inc., where he was the vice president and general manager for the diagnostics division. In his role, he oversaw software sales and customer retention, developing strategies to increase global revenue and profit. He was responsible for leading development of point of sale and software fulfillment systems used by 4,500 Snap-On franchisees and/or distributors worldwide.

Prior to Snap-on Tools, Albert served as senior director, customer care and subscription sales for Citrix Systems, Inc. While at Citrix, Albert established strategy and managed daily operations of the customer care division, including sales and customer relations in order processing, fulfillment and shipping, inbound contact center, subscription sales and product management.

Albert has been married for five years to his wonderful wife Maira whom he met while living in Miami. They have three beautiful children.
